PRESS & BIO PAGE

We make quality, beautiful wares for the home. Check out our press page. But, first, Let’s tell you a little bit about us….

Tamara Stephenson is the owner of interior and product design company root cellar designs. The design team has extensive experience creating beautiful and quality homes for their clients. They also create and manufacture a line of American-made fabric, wallpaper and products such as table linens, bedding, pillows and fashion accessories sold exclusively to fifteen trade showrooms around the country. Their designs are a perfect bridge for varying aesthetics, and a root cellar designs' fabric feels equally at home in a classically decorated home as it does an ultra contemporary space.

In 2019, the team was awarded Rising Stars of Design for their product design by the IFDA NY Chapter.  In 2021 they ventured into collaborating with other brands to design private label collections for other artists and license products for other brands including tile and tabletop.  As working designers, they understand what other designers are looking for on their projects. The team prides themselves on offering stellar customer service to their designer clientele while offering over 100 wallpaper and fabric designs from their collections available on several different materials for both residential and commercial application. When designers ask for custom, the team works quickly to create and manufacture a design.

about Tamara- for two decades, Tamara has been a residential interior designer, writer and author of Nest by Tamara blog. where she has over 1.8 million readers. She often speaks at design trade shows and events and writes for a plethora of magazines on the subject of design. She learned the ins and outs of textiles in the early days after graduating from Parsons School of Design when she worked for several designers shopping for fabric and wallpaper.  Over the years, she has gleaned design inspiration from journalist travels, and her musings have taken me from Deco off in Paris to Mercantilefieri in Parma, Italy.

The design team has extensive experience creating beautiful and quality homes for their clients. They also create and manufacture a line of American-made fabric, wallpaper and products such as table linens, bedding, pillows and fashion accessories sold exclusively to seventeen trade showrooms around the country. Their designs are a perfect bridge for different aesthetics, and a root cellar designs' fabric feels equally at home in a classically decorated home as it does an ultra contemporary space. In 2019, they were awarded Rising Stars of Design for their product design by the IFDA NY Chapter.  In 2021 they ventured into collaborating with other brands to create products. They are currently designing a tile collection with Country Floors.

As working designers, they understand what other designers are looking for on their projects. The team prides themselves on offering stellar customer service to their designer clientele while offering over 100 wallpaper and fabric designs from their collections available on several different materials for both residential and commercial application. When designers ask for something custom, the team works quickly to either tweak something from their collection, or completely start from scratch and create and manufacture a design. The two are long-time friends and met in college at Castleton University in Vermont. After graduating from Castleton, they worked in different industries.

about Tamara- for two decades, Tamara has been a residential interior designer, writer and author of Nest by Tamara blog.. about Susan- Susan has extensive experience as a faux finish and decorative painter and worked as a commissioned artist for several years with fashion designer Joseph Abboud painting the interior of his home. She then went on to create  a women's contemporary sportswear line called Launch by Susan Young where she learned on the job to create her own printed textiles.
